Marlin - Octopus - Dolphin operate
Monday / Wednesday / Friday 3.30pm - 5pm
& Saturday 8.30am - 9.30am
Marlin Level has 3 grades which develop freestyle and backstroke kick. At Saints Swimming our children are taught freestyle (Front crawl) with a catchup stroke and breathing on both sides (bilateral). We have found has a number of advantages including more controlled body position, longer smoother stroke and to maintain neutral body position while breathing.
Octopus Level has 2 grades which develop breaststroke and backstroke. Breaststroke is reknowned as being the most difficult stroke with the sysmmetrical kick action and co-ordinating the timing of the breath, with an arm stroke that doesn't pass the shoulder line with the kick.
Dolphin Level has 2 grades which develop butterfly while improving the freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke. Butterfly kick is a dolphin action moving from above the hips and we use two drills to develop a straight arm recovery (over the top of the water) action and a timing drill to co-ordinate the breathing.
